Take Action: Send a letter to the DOER on SMART Solar Subsidies

Are you concerned about what’s happening in your community with new solar, wind, batteries, transmission lines, substations and other renewable energy infrastructure popping up everywhere? Do you want to have a say in how Massachusetts builds out its renewable energy infrastructure?

Our state regulators are in the process of revising the Solar Massachusetts Renewable Target (SMART) program, the state program that decides what lands will get financial subsidies from the state for large scale ground-mounted solar. Unfortunately, our current pattern of solar development is causing unnecessary harm to nature. Since 2010, over 5,000 acres of natural and working lands have been destroyed for solar.

Send a letter to the DOER to say that we need to remove all subsides for solar in forests, “greenfields” and farmland. We need solar in parking lots and rooftops, not in our farms and forests!

Are you Concerned about Sand Mining in Plymouth? Make Your Voice Heard!

This letter campaign is brought to you by a group of ordinary people from Plymouth, Massachusetts who are dismayed by sand mining projects, both current and proposed, around our Town. Of great concern is the expedited and obscure process by which many of these projects are approved. The Planning Board recently voted to allow a sand mining proposal at 71 Hedges Pond Road to bypass the Zoning Board of Appeals without a public hearing before that board. This ecologically sensitive site lies within the Herring Pond Wampanoag Tribe’s Great Lot, and was once slated for conservation. Now it is in the hands of developers who want to mine it. Send a letter to the Director of the Department of Inspectional Services today, the only person who can stop this project!

Stop the Plymouth Airport Expansion
