Rochester is being targeted for destructive ground-mounted solar projects including “dual use” projects on cranberry bogs. This is driven by a flawed state energy policy that provides taxpayer and ratepayer incentives to cut down trees for solar and to use up valuable farmland including cranberry bogs build in wetlands.
As of September 2021 a “dual use” project on a cranberry bog owned by a Canadian company, Fruit D’Or, is proposed for a bog and agricultural canal. Here is the wetlands “notice of intent” filing from August 2021. The address is 109 Neck Road, Rochester.
