Carver Earth Removal Committee
February 4 @ 3:00 pm
Tuesday, February 4, 3 pm, In person: Link to Agenda
Fruit d’Or Real Estate has applied for a permit to remove 640,000 cubic yards of sand from our aquifer, off of Mayflower Road. Yet the applicant already has six water sources on site and has not demonstrated a need for another one. Meanwhile the Route 44 Development seeks a strip mine permit for 108 acres on Montello Street. The mining permit for EJ Pontiff at the destructive 104 Tremont Street site (see photos, below) is up for its one year renewal. We need to make the earth removal committee aware of the environmental, social and archaeological impacts of the mining. Join us at the meeting!
Take Action:
- Attend the ERC Meeting and speak out about the detrimental effects of sand mining. Contact us ahead of time at environmentwatchsoutheasternma@gmail.com if you would like talking points.
- Speak about the ecological sensitivity of the Sole Source Aquifer
- Speak at the Planning Board hearing for the Route 44 development, 7pm, on February 25th
