Wareham Planning Board: Public Hearings for Two Large Ground-Mounted Solar Arrays:
September 11 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm
Public Hearings for Two Large Ground-Mounted Solar Arrays:
-0 Route 25: Situated on the sole-source aquifer, this project would raze a cumulative 21 acres of Pine Barrens forest.
-370 County Road: This project would raze an additional 10 acres of Pine Barrens forest. The eastern parcel is mapped as Critical Natural Landscape and the parcels abut marshland. Wareham has already lost over 300 acres of forest to solar. development. It’s time to get solar out of our woods and onto the built environment.
Please attend and express your desire for:
- Properly siting solar out of forests, away from core habitat, critical natural landscapes, and the rare Pine Barrens forests;
- Protection for groundwater and surface water resources in Wareham;
- The Planning Board to take into consideration the cumulative impacts of the existing 19 large solar projects in Wareham in addition to the ones proposed.
